About the Co-Founders

When two Italian-American women come together, you know there will be strong coffee, louder-than-average conversations, and ideas that don’t stay small for long. With Laura Bagnarol’s influencial work in social activism and empowerment, and Louisa Vilardi’s creative spark as a writer and photographer, this conference was built to inspire, energize, and leave a lasting impact. Together, they bring grit, heart, and just the right amount of flair to make this event unforgettable.Laura Bagnarol is a social worker, activist, and founder of Be Big Be Brave, LLC, a company dedicated to empowering people of all ages through educational and recreational programs. She launched the Pigskin Princess Project, a groundbreaking flag football program for girls in Dutchess County, and co-founded The Brave Project, a self-awareness and safety program for girls. With a master’s in social work from Fordham University, Laura spent her earlier career providing advocacy, counseling, teaching, and training in the field of victim services. This work continues to influence her current career running her LLC and working as a school social worker. A certified self-defense instructor and proud daughter of Italian immigrants, she is passionate about helping individuals live their biggest, bravest lives and enjoys writing, reading, working out, and sharing a good meal. Laura lives in East Fishkill with her husband, Rob, and their three children, ages 17, 15, and 13.

Louisa Vilardi is a writer, photographer, and former English teacher whose career blends storytelling and visual artistry. An accomplished playwright, her works have been performed nationwide and featured on NBC News. She is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild of America, continues to write full-length plays, and has a grief journal slated for publication in 2026. Louisa’s writing has appeared in outlets such as Her View From Home and The Huffington Post, while her photography has earned national recognition, including being named a Top 100 Featured Artist by the National Association of Portrait & Child Photographers. She is also a published photographer and currently serves as the cover photographer for East Fishkill Living Magazine. Louisa lives in New York with her husband and their three sons, balancing her passions for storytelling, photography, and family.
